About Therapy Squared & Jessica Mevius

Jessica Mevius headshot

I’m Jessica Mevius, an Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapy helps people of all ages perform daily activities, promoting health despite challenges, illness, or disability.

I started a private practice to change how I interact with clients. After studying at TWU, I worked in home-health settings with pediatric patients. With Therapy Squared, I aim to help a broader range of patients, from children improving in school to adults with sensory challenges. My personal and professional experience fuels my passion to enrich others’ lives uniquely and relatably.

School Partnerships

I partner with private schools to provide on-site Occupational Therapy – individual and group sessions, embedded in the school day. These partnerships have spanned very different student populations: mainstream classroom support at McKinney Christian Academy and intensive, specialized services at Chase’s Place. Does your school need an on-site OT? This is a partnership that meets students where they already are.

What is OT? How can it help?

Common challenges that arise in the course of life may benefit from skilled Occupational Therapy intervention. Treatment plans are tailored with a focus on individual strengths and the whole, complex person in mind.

  • Handwriting

    Poor Handwriting

Handwriting is a complex skill that requires the use of many systems. OTs can help address these challenges.

  • Inattention and focus

    Inattentive

Easily distracted or can’t sit still? Attention requires the whole body to be in a ‘just-right’ state.

  • Hand-eye coordination

    Hand-Eye Coordination

OTs address coordination to improve play and school skills like hitting a target, batting a ball, or copying from a backboard.

  • Behaviors

    Behaviors

All behaviors have a meaning; difficulty with sensory processing and self-modulation may be contributing factors.

  • Self-care skills

    Poor Self-Care

Teeth-brushing deficiencies or poor toileting care? Not laziness – may be an indicator of delays in other systems.

  • Sensory processing

    Sensory Issues

Picky eater, sensitivity to sounds, complains about tags in shirts, crashing into things? Constantly moving and fidgeting?
